Adopting a Labrador

Background

Many of the Labradors we are asked to re-home, through no fault of their own, come to us because of changed family circumstances that mean it becomes impossible to continue keeping the dog. Most have been much loved family pets, have been well looked after, and are healthy.

Some, unfortunately, do have problems, but with patience and the right new home these problems can be overcome. We will be on hand to offer advice and guidance wherever possible. A majority of dogs we are asked to re-home are lively young males, some dogs are older and are looking for someone to love and care for them for the remainder of their days. These older dogs are usually of sound temperament, in good health and full of character. Please do not dismiss them because of their age.

Objectives
Our main objective is to place the right dog in the right home so a delay is possible after you have been vetted by one of our Helpers, but the right dog could come along in a few days. There is no 'average' rescue Labrador , but please try to be open minded about the age, sex and colour of dog you require. Please bear in mind that a male can be just as loyal a companion as any bitch. Further information can be found on our information sheet here.

Application
If you can offer a home to one of our Labradors, please fill in and return one of our application forms.
