Labrador Rescue Kent

RE UNION DAY 2007

The event starting at 1:30pm was held on the 5th July at the same venue as last year, on the playing field behind Stockbury Village Hall also using the hall for teas and cakes. Weather was again kind to us, perhaps a little to hot for the dogs but shade was available to enable them to cool off.

As usual there were stalls to entice you to spend your money which is an important part of the event as it helps fund the continual rescue work that goes on for the Labradors who need new homes.
There were a number of stalls including , dog microchipping, tombola, white elephant, loose change for labs, lrk merchandise, raffle, molly mats and nail clipping. Hot dogs were available from the BBQ, in the hall teas and cake.

The other important part of the event is to get people with their families and dogs to have some fun together.
This year we had a number of fun events to enter:

 FANCY DRESS 3rd Winner 2nd
  Troy Charlie Bertie
 WAGGIEST TAIL 3rd Winner 2nd
  Buster
(not in photo)
Cindy Boycie
DOG MOST LIKE OWNER 3rd Winner 2nd
  Lily Buster Tess

We then had a break from the events to watch a display of pet dog obedience by Stockbury Dog Club. A variety of breeds are in the team and they put on an interesting display showing that with training and socialisation the dogs are able to work closely together carrying out down stays, recalls and other exercises. Thanks to Stockbury Dog Club Display Team for a good display.

Then on to the remaining fun events:

FASTEST SAUSAGE EATER 3rd Winner 2nd
  Percy Holly Lunar

This event was very popular and was run over three heats with the faster ones from each heat going through to the final. It certainly got the dogs and handlers moving and to give some idea of the organised chaos that ensued a short video clip of the final can be viewed.  BEST MOVER 3rd Winner 2nd
  Cindy Sumo Charlie
 JUDGES FANCY 3rd Winner 2nd
  Troy Holly Sam
 VETERANS 3rd Winner 2nd
  Benson Goldie Lucy

With the raffle drawn and the events finished it was time to go home after a very enjoyable afternoon.

Thanks to all who helped to put the event on for their hard work arranging, managing stalls, judging etc.. It would not be possible to have such an event without you all.
Also thank you to everybody who came along to support and participate in the event, we hope you and your dogs had an enjoyable afternoon.
