Rehoming Your Labrador

Should you ever be in the unhappy situation where you have to re-home your Labrador , please contact the Labrador Rescue Kent and Borders Head Office. All our helpers have experience with re-homing and which type of home will be best suited to a Labrador . They will be on hand to offer advice and help where needed.

Procedures

If circumstances allow we prefer to keep the dog within the home environment until the right home is found. This helps to minimise any anxiety. If this is not possible and a dog needs to be removed immediately, we will place him or her in a LRK&B approved kennel or foster home. We will then assess the dog, give any necessary veterinary treatment or training before re-homing in one of our vetted homes.

We will make a convenient appointment to visit you and the dog in their own home environment after which a report will be made concerning behaviour, background, temperament and health which is the passed on to Head Office.

After assessment, we then aim to unite the dog with the most suitable vetted home from those on the waiting list. Once a home has been found we will remove the dog with belongings and take it directly to its new home. After re-homing we continue supervision with regular calls and/or visits to ensure the dog is settled and happy.

If you wish to rehome a dog through Labrador Rescue Kent and Borders an application will need to be completed and a home vetting carried out. We are a registered charity run by volunteers and financed purely through contributions which we request from both the original and adoptive owners.

If you would like an application form or to find out more information regarding this please contact:
