Rehome your Labrador

Life throws us so many curve balls nowadays and often it is our pets who are the first to feel the impact. Many of our Labradors have to be rehomed due to a change in family circumstances, such as bereavement, job losses and having to downsize a home due to financial problems. With these dogs, it is very hard for someone to give up their beloved pet, but that’s where we can help. All of our helpers have experience with re-homing and will be on hand to offer advice and help where needed.
Our main objective is to place the right dog in the right home and all new adoptive homes are vetted first of all, so that we can ensure your pet is going to be well looked after. Many of our adopters have rehomed Labradors before, so we know they will be in safe hands.
Procedures for re-homing
If circumstances allow, we prefer to keep the dog within your home until the right adoptive home is found. This helps to minimise any anxiety for the dog.
However, if this is not possible and a dog needs to be moved immediately, we will place the dog in a foster home if one is available.
We will make a convenient appointment to visit you and your dog in your home environment, after which a report will be made concerning behaviour, background, temperament and health, which is passed onto our Head Office.
After assessment, we then aim to place the dog with the most suitable vetted home from those on our waiting list. Once a home has been found, we will remove the dog with belongings and take it directly to its new home.
After re-homing, we continue supervision with regular calls and/or visits to ensure the dog is happy and settled in their new home.
If you wish to rehome your dog through LRK, apply directly and we may require to carry out a home vetting. As we are a registered charity, run by volunteers and financed purely through contributions, we request a contribution from the original owner and also the new owners.
